Final image from my set building university project. EVERYTHING in this scene was built, lit and shot by myself and my set building team.

This shot is based on this scene from the Quentin Tarantino film Inglourious Basterds. We wanted to capture the emotion of the orignal scene and recreate the narrative.

The backdrop was painted on a 4m x 4m canvas, window/glass/frame built from scratch as well as the wall. The wallpaper was handprinted and furniture was custom made by a designer. The measurments of the model were taken a week before shooting and the dress custom made for her.

This project took a month of planning, 3 days to build, 2 days to light and shoot and 1 day to demolish.

The total cost of the entire scene was £350.

Backstage shots: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4

Model is Mikki Henderson.
Shot on a Hasselblad H1.

Great job on re-creating the set and look of the original scene. (Epic Window btw! :D)
I miss doing this stuff actually. I was lucky enough to have worked at Leavsden in the Model Making Unit for a while. The models were so big that they were pretty much Set size :D

Thank you! Urgh.. i hated that window. When we smashed it up it cut my arm to bits too when a bit of naily wood flew off. My uni refused to give me a plaster or any kind of medical help because apparently if i was allergic to anything they gave me they could have sued. Seriously this country..
Model making is great! We have a model making course at my uni, i go downstairs sometimes and there will be goblins and Victorian fireplaces laying about in the corridors waiting to be painted :P Looks like so much fun :D

:D So, we can't give you a plaster, but we can watch you BLEED TO DEATH!
:| Ok, maybe that was a bit OTT, but still :D

I was trying to get in on the model, or art dept of Batman: Dark knight, but they moved it all to the States :(
